🎸 1. It’s called the “Chinese guitar” for its frets and plucking style.
🐉 2. It dates back over 2,000 years to ancient China.
🍡 3. It's played with a pick and you have to press on the frets to play!
🏯 1. The pipa is over 2,000 years old and was once a favorite instrument in ancient Chinese royal courts!
🌪 2. Pipa players use rapid finger techniques like lun zhi(轮指), creating fast, flowing sounds that mimic nature.
💅 3. It's played with nails that are stick on and you have to press on the frets to play!
🎵 1. The liuqin is a small, high-pitched Chinese lute that’s often called the “soprano” of the plucked string family.
🔊 2. Despite its tiny size, the liuqin can produce bright, piercing sounds that cut through an entire orchestra.
🍡 3. Similar to the Zhongruan, it is also played with a pick but the frets are way smaller!
🎻 1. The erhu is sometimes called the “Chinese violin” because of its expressive, almost human-like voice.
🎱 2. It only has two strings but can produce a wide range of emotions, from sorrowful to joyful.
🍥 3. It is played with a bow and the bow is trapped in between the two strings
